Artist's Comments

Here's a sculpture I reworked into a tribute to the Venus di Milo.

Constructed from Roma Plastilina over a wire frame. Approx. 8" tall.

Love all the lumpies and texture and the textural difference between skin and cloth. I like the pinch of skin between her right arm and breast.

Thanks! I got to work from a live model, so I picked up on a lot of details I might have otherwise not factored in. Sculpting from life = the win.

Awesome! How long did she sit?

I'm thinking four 2 hour sessions, of which I was present for three. Ahem. >.> Still up to my old tricks I'm afraid.

Hehe. You procrastinator. But that's awesome that she sat for all that. It really is an amazing textured surface. I want to touchy!

Yeah I took those pictures against black velvet, but all I had for lighting was an led flash light and then just my little point and shoot digital camera. NOT ideal conditions really. Thanks for the comment! :]

Your welcome. I'd say velvet is best for jewelry or any other shiny/glossy sculpture. White might be a more appropriate background color.

Good point. >.> Photographer I am not. It's the one thing in my entire life that I've tried to learn and consistently fail at. Haha.
